Last night we did some grooming, before the snow that just fell. We were essentially doing maintenance on some of the trails so that when we groom with the new snow it’ll be really fine. We smoothed out the skate trails and then trackset M and K, under thy hydro lines. The new snow buried our grooming, but we knew this would happen. Our plan is to groom EVERYTHING tonight, so tomorrow there should be fantastic trails.
We need YOUR help with something. While we were finishing up grooming last night, 2 snowmobiles tore up K loop. They came from Balmer Bay. One sled is a hot rod, with high pitched LOUD revving. I’d like to get the word out to folks in that community so parents can discuss snowmobile etiquette with their kids. We have seen snowmobile tracks across K three times now in recent days, and to do this on fresh grooming, crossing posted signs and barriers, we need to address this. SPREAD THE WORD please. Or if you know who is doing this, PM me please and we’ll visit them for a chat.
M and K loops have been freshened up this evening, with new classic tracks and new skate surfaces. D loop has also been track set. The skate tracks on S, B and H have also been restored, and as an outcome of doing that, the hills no longer have snowplow ruts and ridges .. the hills are smooth now. The hard surface under the snow doesn’t serve well with all the skiing, so the hills might get rutted again after a few days.
Loops D, R, X and C were not touched this time, but withna bit of new snow coming, we’re hoping to freshen up those trails later in a few days.
Most trails were groomed last night and this morning in time for SKI FEST! We had just enough snow to perform leveling on D, R, X, and C, so enjoy the smooth ride … finally. On C loop there are still some icy spots near the shoreline of the Ottawa River (near Voyageur Rock).
K loop under the hydro lines was rolled and track set last night as well.
M, S, H, B and M extension were levelled, rolled and track set this morning, so we are at 100% in our grooming.

All of the DRXC loops were re-groomed last night for your weekend enjoyment. All except B loop, that is. This grooming includes track setting and rolling the skate trails.
B loop and the ungroomed sections of S and H were track set. On Friday those loops were flattened in preparation for track setting, but the resulting skate track is a bit rough in places. The skate track is also a bit narrow right now, but we intend to widen it more after the next snowfall.
Be cautious of the hills … the conditions are fast, and the falls could be hard.
