We have some limited grooming for you to enjoy tomorrow. For skate skiers, Little M and K (hydro lines) are flattened. It’s a bit bumpy, but that’s what we have.
For classic skiers we have a single track set on Little M, and on Less Little M (King’s Road to M). We also have double track set on both sides of K under the hydro lines.
Get out to enjoy this tomorrow because it’s supposed to rain all day on Thursday. If the single tracks are too busy for your comfort, ski the double tracks on K.
We need more snow before we can groom the other trails.
CAUTION: if you ski the ungroomed section of M Loop, be cautious crossing the second bridge over Kennedy Creek (Ormrod’s). It had iced over a few weeks ago.
A big thank you to all the coaches and assistant coach voluteers, jackrabbits, bunny rabbits and parents, and especially to my husband for making our Meet & Greet a good time. Skis and poles are decorated, tentative groups are tweaked, crafts for Bunnyrabbit balance on ski games are ready to go, and we got a chance to mix and mingle and welcome new families to DRXC and to Deep River. We should really do more social gatherings like this and keep growing our xc ski club community!
C has been added to the list of classic trails open that also includes D, R, X and M. Only one tree had to be removed from across the trail on C – a new one since yesterday, I believe. If you see any downed trees, please report them to the executive via the link on the main site. All open trails have a new classic track on them as of today. Future priorities include widening M for the skaters and opening the outer loops (aka S, H and B).
Note: The apparent track on S only goes to ‘The Top’ and is the result of a rescue mission for an injured skier. S is not yet fully open.
All our trails are now ski-able. D,R,X,C,M and K have seen grooming and have a track set. S has now been rolled and could be skate skied although it is quite bumpy and uneven. Snowplowing on the downhills has scraped them pretty clean and are icy in patches; ski cautiously on these outer loops. B and H have seen skier traffic but have not been groomed and will remain thus until more snow arrives.
